Warner Bros. has decided to postpone the premiere of the science fiction film "Dune: Part Two" to 2024 due to ongoing strikes by screenwriters and actors in Hollywood, according to Deadline. The sequel to Denis Villeneuve's film was previously scheduled to be released on November 3. This is not the only film project affected by the strikes. In addition to "Dune 2," Warner Bros. has also postponed the premiere of the film "Godzilla and Kong: The New Empire" and the anime "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim." The strikes began in May with the Writers Guild of America, which includes over 11,500 authors who create content for Hollywood films and shows. They failed to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers on improving working conditions. The strike was also supported by the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. The unions announced that strikes would take place in major media companies, including Amazon, Disney, Fox, Netflix, Paramount, Sony, Universal, and Warner Bros. Actresses such as Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep have also expressed their support for the strikes. Former CEO of Paramount and 20th Century Fox, Barry Diller, expressed concerns that the American film industry is facing "an absolute collapse" if the strikes by the writers and actors' unions do not end by September 1st.
